 Pinchos win an Environmental Award

Along with a select group of Chelmsford restaurants we've received the ‘Green Ladle’ environmental champion award which recognises good kitchen practice. The awards ceremony highlighted the success of the restaurants' attempts to stop waste fats, oils and grease (FOG) blocking up sewers.

Environmental specialists, Biotech have got involved with the awards with a two-year trial that has seen 15 restaurants use bio-remedial products to relieve the FOG problem, reducing pollution, odours and costs.

Paul Gibbs, the director of Wastewater, Anglian Water, commented: "We applaud the catering establishments who are receiving this prestigious award and Chelmsford Borough Council for working closely with our teams to help combat the problem of waste fats oils and grease. Working together has not only led to less problems but has helped all the businesses taking part and improved the quality of life in those streets by reducing odours."

The Green Ladle Award scheme, backed by the Environment Agency and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, encourages the development of closer working relationships between councils, Anglian Water officials and restaurant and takeaway owners as environmental issues increasingly become part of everyone's concerns.
